NordicTrack Commercial 2450 Features

You can read detailed explanations about the top features in the sections below.

22-Inch Smart HD Touchscreen

One of the most exciting and enticing features of the NordicTrack Commercial 2450 is the superb 22-inch touchscreen that can enhance every workout. It’s a large and immersive screen that can transport you anywhere in the world, so you can hike the Alps or run through The Redwood Forest.

The screen can pivot and tilt easily, so you don’t have to crane your neck or struggle to see the screen while you work out. The sensitive touchscreen makes it easy to check progress or change what you’re watching without breaking your stride.

Whether you want to watch the new TV show you can’t stop binging or work out with a professional who can encourage you to push yourself, the screen will substantially enhance every workout.

Incline and Decline

This treadmill has excellent incline and decline capabilities. You can adjust up to a challenging 12% incline to really get a burn going in the legs.

Many similar treadmills have a maximum incline of 10%, so this model gives you a little extra to make your hill workouts more intense. The decline can go down to -3%, which is ideal to add realistic variation to your run or if you want to work on your downhill balance.

Foldable Design

While treadmills are an excellent way to exercise without stepping outside, they can be bulky in your home, taking up more space than you like. The NordicTrack Commercial 2450 solves this problem with its foldable design that allows you to hide the treadmill away when you’re not using it.

When folded, it’s less than three feet wide, making it possible to slide it behind a couch or into a closet, so it doesn’t have to be an eyesore in your home. It’s also an excellent feature if you live in a small space where every inch of the floor is precious.

iFIT Program

Now for one of the most advanced features of the treadmill, the iFIT program. All NordicTrack treadmills, including the NordicTrack Commercial 2450, come with a 30-day free trial membership of the iFIT at-home training program.

It’s an interactive personal training program where you can select different trainers who will guide you through workouts and encourage you to push your limits. The IFIT app comes automatically installed on the touchscreen, giving you the power to stream unlimited trainer-led workouts.

These are not pre-recorded workout videos. Live trainers monitor your progress and tailor the exercise session to your needs. iFIT also has built-in walking and running paths, so you can enjoy your run while admiring stunning landscapes in places like New Zealand, Egypt, and Patagonia.

Sadly, the iFIT program isn’t free with the treadmill. After the 30-day free trial, you must sign up for a subscription plan if you want to keep using it.

Automatic Trainer Control and Terrain Adjustments

While many treadmills nowadays come with a screen for streaming shows and watching running paths, this treadmill takes the tech further with automatic trainer controls and terrain adjustments.

So, when working out with a personal trainer, the trainer can adjust your speed and incline! They will automatically increase the incline or speed up the pace during intense parts of the training and slow the treadmill when it’s time to cool down.

The treadmill is also programmed to adjust automatically to the terrain of your running path. So, if you run a mountainous path, the treadmill will incline and decline to coincide with the hills for a more realistic experience. And you have the option to turn these settings off if you want.

Self-Cooling Motor

If you’re an intense runner or have a household full of runners, some treadmills may not be able to handle constant use. They can overheat if used for hours or multiple times throughout the day.

But with the NordicTrack Commercial 2450, you don’t have to worry about that. The motor has a self-cooling mechanism that ensures it never overheats, so you can run all day long, and the treadmill will continue to function perfectly.

This system was designed with the most intense workouts in mind, utilizing a top-of-the-line motor and a Smart Response Drive System. Whatever you can handle, the NordicTrack Commercial 2450 can handle.

Comfortable Tread Belt

Compared to many other treadmills in its class, this model has an extra wide and long tread belt, giving you more space to work out. It’s 22 inches wide and 60 inches long. If you have a particularly long stride or a wide gait, this treadmill offers plenty of space to run comfortably.

If you’ve ever used a treadmill that was too narrow or short, you know it can completely ruin your workout. With this running deck, your workouts will feel more natural and less confined, so you can run freely without worrying about falling off the edge or slipping on the sides.

Speaking of falling off the edge, this treadmill has a shorter step-up to get on the tread belt than most other treadmills. Not only does this mean you won’t fall as far if you accidentally trip, but it also means the treadmill will feel more stable during your workouts.

Runners Flex Cushioning

Another fabulous feature of the NordicTrack Commercial 2450 is the Flex Cushioning. This cushioning is an extra layer beneath the tread belt that alters the deck suspension to be more comfortable and conducive to healthy running.

The Flex Cushioning is adjustable. You can make the running surface harder or softer to suit your preferences. The level of suspension can significantly change your workout. Because of the increased shock absorption, people prone to joint pain will be more comfortable on a softer surface.

On the other hand, someone training for a marathon will want to train on a hard surface similar to what they’ll run on, often a paved street. Adjusting the Flex Cushioning can change the stability, intensity, and comfort of your workout.

AutoBreeze Fan

We already mentioned that the motor has a self-cooling feature, but this treadmill will keep you cool too! The AutoBreeze fan is a brilliant feature that helps you stay cool and comfortable during your intense, sweaty workouts.

Sometimes, dripping in sweat makes you want to end the workout a bit early, but his AutoBreeze fan can be the difference between reaching your goals and throwing in the towel. It offers a chilled breeze that targets your head, chest, and upper arms, helping your entire body feel cool, so you can keep crushing your run.

It’s a small feature that makes a world of difference during tough workouts when you want to give up.

WiFi Connectivity

The touchscreen and treadmill have WiFi capabilities with dual 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz WiFi connectivity. It’s a reliable and fast connection to ensure your training programs and running paths don’t lag or glitch while working out. This WiFi lets you download your favorite streaming apps, like Netflix, Hulu, or HBO.

Unfortunately, downloading third-party apps does require a little hacking. You need to circumvent the system to access other apps, which is easy to do with the right search. However, this hack will nullify the warranty, meaning NordicTrack won’t fix or replace anything if you need help.

Bluetooth Capabilities

The treadmill also has Bluetooth capabilities that can enhance your experience. You can connect your headphones to the treadmill to listen to the trainers, the content you watch, the scenic path sounds, or your favorite music.

If you work out in a common space in your home, headphones can prevent household members from getting annoyed. Additionally, the treadmill’s Bluetooth can connect to other devices, like a SmartBeat™ Heart Rate Monitor or activity tracking watch, helping you monitor your activity and heart rate.

With the SmartBeat™ Heart Rate Monitor, the treadmill will adjust the incline and pace to keep you at your optimal heart rate for a better workout. The SmartBeat™ Heart Rate Monitor is sold separately and does not come with the treadmill.

NordicTrack Commercial 2450 Pros

Durable and Moveable: The treadmill offers top-quality construction while being easy to move around. The steel construction, paired with the sturdy wheels and foldable design, make for a portable but durable treadmill.

iFIT Program: The iFIT program is a major draw for this treadmill, dramatically enhancing your workouts and overall experience. For many people, the monthly cost is well worth it.

Incline Options and Speed: The treadmill offers generous incline and speed, so it’s ideal for intense runners who want intense workouts.

Bluetooth and WiFi: The Bluetooth and WiFi capability gives you access to more exercise resources and options, whether it’s downloading a new app or tracking your heart rate during your workouts.

Highly Adjustable: This treadmill is wonderfully adjustable, so you can tailor the settings to your preferences. You can adjust the suspension, incline, speed, screen tilt, and more to make your runs more comfortable than ever.

Spacious Belt: The spacious belt is one of the best aspects of this treadmill, making it comfortable for taller people to exercise naturally without feeling confined.

Sleek Design: We know appearance isn’t most runners’ top priority, but it’s worth mentioning that the design is streamlined and sleek, so it’s less industrial and cold looking compared to other treadmill models.

Excellent Motor: The motor in the NordicTrack Commercial 2450 is superb. It’s a top-notch motor with plenty of power and stability, but it’s also quiet and doesn’t overheat, so it’s practically perfect.

Large Touchscreen: A 22-inch touchscreen is another major draw of this model. No more squinting at the tiny trainers on screen, as this massive screen creates an immersive experience, so you’re 100% focused on your workout.

NordicTrack Commercial 2450 Cons

Wobbly Screen: The number one complaint about this treadmill is the slight shaking of the screen during high-speed runs. It’s subtle but noticeable.

Little Console Storage: The console doesn’t have much space for things like a towel or your phone. There are also no cup holders, which is very frustrating.

Limiting Weight Capacity: The 300-pound weight capacity can be a dealbreaker for many people and begs the question if this is truly a commercial, heavy-duty product.

Relatively Short Warranty: A 10-year warranty may sound great, but it’s significantly lower than the industry standard.

Must Hack for Apps: Many treadmill screens let you download any apps you want without voiding the warranty, but NordicTrack forces you to nullify the warranty if you want to stream on most apps.

Expensive: The treadmill itself is very expensive, but the iFIT subscription adds to the cost of this treadmill. You don’t have to opt for the subscription, but the treadmill is less impressive without it.

Alternatives to the NordicTrack Commercial 2450

If the NordicTrack Commercial 2450 doesn’t sound like the right treadmill for you, let’s look at a few of NordicTrack’s alternatives.

NordicTrack EXP 7i

A much simpler, budget-friendly treadmill, this model has almost all the same features minus some high-tech stuff and has also recently been updated by NordicTrack. The screen is only seven inches wide, but the 20” X 50”  running belt is almost as big as the 2450’s, just 5 inches shorter. The motor has a little less power, and the max speed is 10 MPH instead of 12 MPH like the 2450. The max incline is the same at 12%, but there is no decline option. Some pretty nice options and less than half the price of the 2450.

NordicTrack Commercial 1750

The Commercial 1750 is similar to the 2450, but with a smaller 14” screen and a very slightly less powerful motor. Otherwise, it’s a very comparable treadmill to the 2450, with a weight capacity of 300 pounds, and a 0 – 12 MPH speed range. It also features a -3% decline but a slighter more aggressive 15% incline.

NordicTrack EXP 14i

The EXP 14i NordicTrack is a decent alternative with similar features. This treadmill focuses even more on the touchscreen features, offering on-demand workouts, daily challenges, and exclusive content. It has the same incline, decline, and speed ranges, but the running belt is substantially smaller, as is the touchscreen, even though it has more included features.

This model will be receiving an update sometime this spring.

Things To Consider

When deciding if you want the NordicTrack Commercial 2450, keep the following considerations in mind.

Budget

As mentioned, this treadmill is quite costly, and there are many cheaper options out there. If you want an affordable treadmill, this is not the best option. Some of the NordicTrack alternatives listed above are substantially more affordable than the NordicTrack Commercial 2450, so those are better options if you’re on a tight budget.

Your Size

You should also consider your height and weight or the height and weight of other household members who may use the treadmill. As mentioned, this is an excellent treadmill for tall people but not as suitable for heavier people. Anyone 275 pounds or heavier should seek alternatives. But if you’re over six feet, this might be the ideal treadmill for your size.

Available Space

Since this treadmill is so spacious and wide, you must consider how much space you have to lay it out. Since it’s foldable, this helps to save space when it comes to storage. But you also need to ensure you have enough space for the treadmill to fit while in use. It’s commercial-sized, so not appropriate for smaller residential properties.

Running Goals

This treadmill is intense and fancy. From the impeccable, heavy-duty construction to the rigorous iFIT workouts to the dramatic incline and speed options, it’s ideal for serious runners.

If you’re training for something or have high running goals you want to achieve, this treadmill can help you get there. But if you’re more of a casual run-for-fun person, you don’t necessarily need all the frills and power this treadmill offers.

Running Preferences

For some runners, any old treadmill will do. But if you have specific running preferences or needs, like a soft surface to prevent joint pain or a wide belt for your broad gate, the adjustability of this treadmill is helpful. Essentially, it offers a more comfortable and customizable running experience for people who want to adjust the treadmill to their precise preferences.

Our Final Verdict

So, is the treadmill worth getting? If you’re a dedicated, intense runner, we think it’s a wonderful investment. For casual, infrequent runners, we recommend finding a more budget-friendly option.

The spacious running belt, dramatic inclines, impressive top speed, and robust iFIT training program make this a brilliant option for serious runners.

If you want to kick your workouts up a notch, either with a motivational trainer in your ear or a stunning scenic running route, it doesn’t get better than the NordicTrack Commerical 2450!
